IHU

The Department of Agriculture of the IHU has three streams and five (5) institutionalized laboratories, Agrobiotechnology and Agricultural Control, Reproduction and Genetic Improvement of Farm Animals, Precision Animal Husbandry and Integrated Management in Swine Production, Management and Environmental Protection for Sustainable Agricultural Development, and Product and Agricultural Economics Research and Development. The faculty members have extensive experience in research projects and have implemented or are implementing competitive research projects (National, European, Transnational, etc.) in the whole range of Agricultural Production. In addition, they cooperate with Educational, Research Institutions in Greece and abroad.

The IHU has the scientific coordination of the project so that its research department is implemented on the basis of internationally accepted protocols, both at farm level and at laboratory and industrial level. It monitors the development of the experiments on the farm with analyses and measurements. It also proceedes to the laboratory preparation of innovative dairy products from organic goat's milk , from milk samples of the specific farms. It also provides knowledge for the industrial production of organic cheese from the milk of these farms.
